Religion

Back to Basics!

Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”
So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
He said to Him, “Which ones?”
Jesus said, “ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother,’and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?”
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
With God All Things Are Possible

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

This is simple stuff folks. Get back to basics.

Moment of Lost Faith?

Several years ago on an internet forum I was asked about the moment I lost faith in god. Here's my response, cobbled together from several different posts:

Back to the question about the moment of lost faith...

You have to have something in order to lose it.

I was never a believer. I wanted to believe as a child, I wanted to feel it, I tried, I went to church even more than my parents did. I just never felt it. Not in the least. None of it made any sense. Even as a child I could see the flaws in the logic that is used in the bible and amongst believers. It just doesn't make any sense.

Religious Believers Who Hate Gay People

What is the deal with all these religious people who are absolutely terrified of gays? It's like they think gays are going to jump out of every closet and rub their genetalia on them or something. Gays are guys who like guys and women who like women.

Ooooooh, I'm scared already! Get the guns! Bar the door! Run for your lives! The gays are coming!!!

Funamentalism and Why it is Bullshit

Fundamentalism is a crock of shit. Bull feces. Cow patties. Pasture Hockey Pucks. Turd. Poo Poo. It stinks!

Why? Because fundamentalism was cleverly designed to have no real answers to your questions, to keep you guessing throughout life about the hows and whys of our Universe. Except for the actions of people. Oh religion is an expert on those. Thought the world was flat for a while. Believed we were the center of the Universe for a long time. Catholics weren't even supposed to acknowledge evolution until the pope came out recently and said it was OK by him. Horse poopay!
