What is the deal with all these religious people who are absolutely terrified of gays? It's like they think gays are going to jump out of every closet and rub their genetalia on them or something. Gays are guys who like guys and women who like women.
Ooooooh, I'm scared already! Get the guns! Bar the door! Run for your lives! The gays are coming!!!
The funny part is that people act like homosexuality is something new. It's not. It has been around for thousands of years. It has even been state-sanctioned at certain points in history. The Greek armies had elite units known as The Sacred Bands. They were elite Hoplite Spearmen who were the best of the best in the Greek army. They lived and fought in male pairs, and the concept was that no soldier would fight as feircely as one who was defending his lover! So no, being gay has not always been tagged with the label of being effeminate like it is today. And it was not always seen as some sort of abhorrent behavior worthy of ridicule.
Yet, today there seems to be a surge of belief in the fantasy that gays are ruining our culture and trying to take over the country. Preachers and televangelists spout scathing sermons on the dangers of gayness in our society telling us how they are leading us down the wrong path and bringing on the wrath of all the different gods the myriad of christian splinter groups worship. Some of the christian gods love gays, some of the christian gods hate gays. It really depends on the person and what they want the Bible to say for them.
